The Los Angeles Dodgers remain in Colorado to play the Rockies on Saturday night at 8:10 p.m. EDT. Los Angeles is currently first in the entire NL and has the second-best record in all of baseball and is coming off a series loss to the Washington Nationals but destroyed the Rockies in game one of the series. Colorado, meanwhile, is a ways back of the Wild Card spot and could be a seller at the deadline, and is coming off two-game series split to the Chicago White Sox after being swept in a four-game series against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Kershaw Takes The Mound

Los Angeles will be giving the ball to left-hander Clayton Kershaw who's 7-2 with a 2.49 ERA while in his last five starts he has been dominant as he's 2-0 with a 1.61 ERA. Although Kershaw has been solid this season, the lefty in his lone start against Colorado this season is 0-1 with a 13.50 ERA as in four innings he allowed six runs on nine hits and walked four. On the road, however, he's 5-2 with a 2.20 ERA in seven starts while as a pitching staff the Dodgers have a team ERA of 2.95 which is the best in baseball while they rank 10th in strikeouts, only have allowed 89 home runs which is third and have only allowed 700 hits which is second-best. The Dodgers have taken the first two games of the series and are now 20-4 in July.

The Dodgers bat .257 as a team which is third-best while they slash .257/.336/.440 while the .336 on-base percentage is the best in baseball while their slugging percentage ranks fourth. LA is batting .252 while in 10 games against Colorado this season they are hitting .253 and against left-handers, they bat .257. Meanwhile, against Kyle Freeland, Cody Bellinger bats .333 in 18 ABs, Justin Turner hits .333 in 48 ABs, Gavin Lux bats .556 in 9 ABs, Trayce Thompson is 2-5, Will Smith is 3-10, while Mookie Betts bats .217 in 23 ABs.

Rockies Likely To Be Sellers

With the trade deadline on August 2, the Colorado Rockies will be one of the many sellers as this will be one of the last games they play as a full team as they will likely move some pitching. On Saturday, they are giving the ball to left-hander Kyle Freeland who's 5-7 with a 4.64 ERA while against the Dodgers he's 1-2 with a 7.04 ERA and at home, this season in 10 starts he's 3-3 with a 5.66 ERA. They also have a team ERA of 4.91 which ranks 29th.

Offensively, the Rockies have been led by Kris Bryant (.307), Jose Iglesias (.299), Yonathan Daza (.295), C.J. Cron (.283), Charlie Blackmon (.274), and Brendan Rodgers (.273). The Rockies are hitting .261 as a team which ranks second in baseball while at home they are hitting .286 and against the Dodgers they are batting .245. Meanwhile, against Kershaw, Blackmon bats .304 in 69 ABs, Elias Diaz hits .714 in 7 ABs, Garrett Hampson bats .417 in 12 ABs, Brendan Rodgers is 2-2 while Jose Iglesias bats .286 in 7 ABs.
