The Boston Red Sox have been struggling as they have lost all momentum as they are last in the AL East. Veteran right-hander Nathan Eovaldi will get the ball here and is coming off a no-decision against the Cleveland Guardians as he went six innings and allowed five runs (four earned) on nine hits with no walks and a strikeout. 

 

The Houston Astros have been one of the best teams in all of MLB so far. Young righty Luis Garcia lost against the Oakland Athletics last time out as he gave up four runs on four hits with four walks and seven strikeouts in that game. 

 

Beantown Getting Beaten Down

The Boston Red Sox have been a good offensive team over the course of the season as they are 11th in the sport with a .725 team OPS while averaging 4.52 runs per game right now. Shortstop Xander Bogaerts has been doing well at the plate as he has an .849 OPS with eight homers and seven stolen bases. He has a five-pitch arsenal (fastball, splitter, curveball, slider, cutter) and his slider has been his worst pitch as it has a .386 batting average and an .818 slugging percentage. Eovaldi faced the Astros once this season already and lost as he went just 1.2 innings and gave up nine runs (six earned) on eight hits with no walks or strikeouts.

Houston Making Improvements Before Tuesday?

The Houston Astros have been one of the best offensive teams throughout the season thus far as they are sitting in fifth place with a .745 team OPS while scoring 4.49 runs per game. Designated hitter Yordan Alvarez has been hitting incredibly well as he has a 1.098 OPS with 30 home runs and 69 RBI while swiping a base as well. Garcia also throws five different pitches (fastball, cutter, changeup, curveball, slider) and his changeup has been his best pitch as it has a .143 batting average and a .286 slugging percentage thus far. He faced the Red Sox once and lost as he went four innings and allowed five runs (three earned) on five hits with three walks and four strikeouts.
