The Colorado Avalanche will go on the road and take on the Nashville Predators for game three of their series. Colorado had a record of 56-19-7. Nashville had a record of 45-30-7. These two teams faced each other four times this season with Nashville winning three out of the four games. However, Colorado leads the playoff series 2-0. The game is set for 430pm EST.

 

Avalanche Win First Two

Colorado won games one and two of the series. They won game two 2-1 in overtime. Cale Makar scored the overtime winner. Darcy Kuemper stopped 25 out of 26 shots faced.

 

The offense was fantastic for Colorado this season. They ranked fourth in goals per game and fourth in shots per game. Mikko Rantanen led Colorado with 92 points and he had scored 36 goals, which also led the team. Nathan MacKinnon played in 65 games this season and he recorded 88 points. Four players had over 80 points for Colorado. The Avalanche scored seven goals in game one but two goals in game two. Nathan MacKinnon scored twice in game one and once in game two.

Defense and goaltending were fairly decent for the Avalanche this season. The team ranked ninth in goals against per game and 19th in shots against per game. Darcy Kuemper had a 37-12-4 record with a 2.54 GAA and a .921 SV%. He ranked tied for fourth in shutouts among all goalies in the league, with five shutouts on the season. Kuemper has been sharp in the playoffs. He stopped 23 out of 25 shots faced in game one and he stopped 25 out of 26 shots faced in game two. Cale Makar was second in points, first in goals, and tied for fifth in assists among all defensemen in the league. Makar scored a goal in game one and he scored the overtime winner in game two.

 

Predators Lose Game Two

Nashville is down 2-0 in the series against Colorado. They lost game two 2-1 in overtime. Yakov Trenin scored the Preds’ lone goal in game two. Connor Ingram was excellent in the loss, stopping 48 out of 50 shots faced.

 

Nashville was very productive on offense this season. They scored three goals or more in seven out of the last eight games. The Predators ranked 12th in goals per game and 24th in shots per game. Matt Duchene had 86 points and Filip Forsberg had 42 goals on the year. Duchene was hot to end the season, recording one point or more in eight straight games. The Predators’ offense has not shown up in this series. They scored two goals in game one and one goal in game two.

The defense and goaltending were less than average for the Predators this season. They ranked 17th in goals against per game and 20th in shots against per game. Juuse Saros had a record of 38-25-3 with a 2.64 GAA and a .918 SV%. He has missed the first two games of the series. Saros is questionable to return for game three. Roman Josi was excellent this season, leading the team with 96 points. Josi was first in points, second in goals, and first in assists among all defensemen in the league. He has one assist through two games in the series.
