Old ominion plays host to Louisiana Tech in a Conference USA matchup between a couple of reeling teams.

Louisiana Tech has lost three in a row but two of those losses came facing ranked teams. Still, they were blown out in their last game and in their last two games have been outscored 64-19. The Bulldogs have not been very good on both sides of the ball this season but they do have an aerial attack that ranks 25th in the nation in passing yards per game. Tech is only 2-5 overall and 1-2 in C-USA play.

Old Dominion is reeling, as they have lost five in a row and their only win was facing college powerhouse Hampton. After two close games, they were blown out in their last game, and while at home in this game they have failed to cover the spread in seven of their last nine games in their house.

No Balance, No Handles

In their last game, Tech was at home and lost to a ranked UTSA team 45-16 where they had little balance on offense and had three turnovers while not forcing any. They had more overall yards in the game (408-406) but gave up 213 rushing yards, only rushed for 69 yards, and were outscored 24-6 in the second half.

Austin Kendall (1,621 yards 12 TD 9 INT) leads the Bulldogs and while he had two TDs and only one INT in the loss to UTSA he has six picks in the last three games and was sacked 10 times in the last two games.

Tech does have a solid WR corps, as Smoke Harris, great name, leads the team with 392 receiving yards, and Bub Means and Tre Harris have 327 and 293 receiving yards respectively. The team only ranks 106th in the nation in rushing yards per game but lead back Marcus Williams Jr. (425 yards 2 TD) has been playing well but does not get many carries in the pass-happy offense. ODU does have a pretty good run defense but only ranks 89th in the nation in pass defense and that is a big concern facing Tech.

Not a Good List to Be On

A 1-6 Old Dominion squad recently cracked the ESPN Bottom 10 list of the 10 worst teams in the nation and that is a list nobody, duh, wants to be on. In their last game, they were at home and lost to Western Kentucky 43-20 where they did have 466 total yards but gave up 518 yards, gave up 397 passing yards and five passing TD, and turned the ball over five times.

Freshman Hayden Wolff (467 yards 1 TD 2 INT) got his first career start in the loss to WKU and while he passed for 327 yards, he did not have a TD, was picked twice, and sacked five times. He may get another start in this game with D.J. MackJr.having more INT (7) than TD (5). WR Ali Jennings III and TE Zack Kuntz each have at least 381 receiving yards and have combined for four TDs. Blake Watson leads the Monarchs with 443 rushing yards and he has rushed for 272 of them in the last two games. Elijah Davis (331 yards 3 TD) joins him in the backfield but has only averaged 24 rushing yards in the last four games. Tech ranks in the middle of the pack in terms of rushing defense but only 101st in the nation in pass defense.
