We will have some Week 18 NFC South opponents squaring off on Sunday afternoon as we have the Carolina Panthers and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers squaring off inside of Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay, Florida. The Panthers are entering this game at 5-11 this season while the Buccaneers are coming in at 12-4.
The Bucs beat the Panthers 32-6 on the road on Dec. 26.
Hear the RoarThe Carolina Panthers have struggled this season as they are 5-11 to begin the regular season. They are being led by quarterback Sam Darnold so far as he regained his starting role after disappointing play from Cam Newton while Darnold was out with an injury. They are coming off an 18-10 road loss against the New Orleans Saints. The biggest problem that popped up was the fact they allowed the Saints to record seven sacks throughout the game.
Leading their offensive output in the game was tight end Ian Thomas, who recorded three catches for 33 yards in the game and was one of five players to have multiple catches for at least 10 receiving yards. The defense has been their strength as they are allowing 22.7 points on 317.7 total yards against them.
Putting AB Behind ThemThe Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been dominant this season as they are 12-4 entering the final week of the regular season. They won the NFC South so they are playing for the No. 2 spot in the conference. They are led by veteran quarterback Tom Brady so far and that is going to help them progress throughout the regular season. They are coming off a 28-24 road win against the New York Jets. The biggest positive was the fact Tampa was 9-of-15 on third-down conversions.
Leading their receiving output in the game was tight end Rob Gronkowski, who finished with seven receptions for 115 yards in the game and was one of eight players that finished with a pair of catches for double-digit yardage. Brady will look to him, Mike Evans and Cameron Brate with Chris Godwin injured and Antonio Brown released. The defense needs to step up more consistently as they are allowing 349.4 yards per game against them and are giving up 21 ppg.
